Ardèche at your feet
From our hotel in Chandolas
In the heart of Southern Ardèche, just 30 km from Aubenas, our hotel provides a privileged place from which you can discover the wonders of the area. Just a dozen kilometres from Chandolas, fall under the spell of the Ardèche Gorges. A true natural gem, see how the tumultuous water of the river has created a winding path through the grandiose landscape.
Discover the famous Pont d’Arc, a natural arch 60 m in height spanning the River Ardèche. Nearby, visit the Pont d’Arc Cave, containing a replica of the famous Chauvet Cave, which has some of the oldest cave paintings in the world. Continue your underground journey in the region at the Aven d’Orgnac Cave, a grandiose array of stalactites and stalagmites that began forming 100 million years ago.
Then follow the lovely roads in the area to discover the nearby picturesque villages. Visit Balazuc, perched on a cliff overlooking the River Ardèche, as well as Vogüé with its impressive castle. Then take to the streets of Banne, Labeaume, Naves and Antraigues-sur-Volane, where you can visit the home of beloved “chanson française” singer-songwriter Jean Ferrat, who lived in the village from 1974 to his death.
As well as visiting all these heritage locations, enjoy Ardèche’s natural wonderland in a range of outdoor activities. Take a hike on foot or on horseback, scale the bike trails on either touring or mountain bike, swim in the turquoise water of the rivers, traverse the gorges in canoe, kayak or row-boat, or have a wild adventure practising caving, via ferrata, climbing or canyoning.
