For fans of chestnuts and local produce:
- discover the making of Picodon, the very local "little cheese that stings" made from goat's milk. Terra Cabra. This site is a great way to immerse yourself in the world of cheese-making, where you can see the cheese maturing cellars at first hand and talk to 'real' producers.
- tame the chestnut, the region's flagship fruit, for which the Ardèche is the leading producer in France. Castanea - The Ardèche chestnut discovery area. In fact, this production is recognised by a PDO (protected designation of origin) including 65 varieties of local chestnuts, some of which are ultra-local.
If you don't have too much time, Castanea offers a 30-minute tour.
If you have time, Opt for the tour featuring a tasting of chestnut-based products from the Cévennes d'Ardèche.
Terra Cabra is open all year round, while Castanea is open from April to November.
